We have been established in wide format for about 5 years and have been very successful in this area, we invested in a Konica c1100 and looking at getting a second but we have around 10 orders a day that we outsource but would like to do these in house.

We are looking at purchasing possibly a Heidelberg SM52 5 Colour Plus Coater but what is the best plate marker for this (automatic and low cost as possible) also what would you estimate the price of 10,000 full colour a5 leaflets would be (plate and ink).

How do you guys finance these and how long over?

B3 Plates would be around £2.50 Each So X 4 is £10 (you can get 2 A5 Jobs Work and turn so split that in 2 if you are ganging)
Ink difficult to work out but if you call it £10 per 10K A5 you are covered. So now, work out if you can better money printing it or buying it in dependent on how much you sell it for and how much you buy it?

Lets base this on 2X10A5 on say 150 GSM

Paper 5,000 SRA3 Sheets - £14 Per K £70
Plates - 4 X £2.50 - £10
Ink - Call it £15
Running time - Average 7K sheets per hour, 2.5 hours (incl makeready and drying time)
Wages - £10 Per hour minimum X 2.5 hours £25

Total- £120 to print 2X10K A5

Selling price for these 2 jobs (assuming it is high street prices not blue chip) - £200 Per Job so £400
Buying it in, if you buy 2X10K A5 from a Trade Jobbing printer - £240
Buying it in as 4X10K A5 - £400

Hope this helps, The uk market is becoming very tight for B3
