I've been the victim of that once or twice. I suggest an idea, nothing comes of it. Fast forward a couple years and then it becomes the CEO's suggestion and we implement it.

The important thing is the end-result. My old boss would never implement a new idea unless he is the one who came up with it. So, if I wanted the company to move forward, I had to diplomatically figure out ways to guide him where I wanted him, so that he would think it was "his" idea. Then, it got done. Like I said, the important thing is the end result.
