    Default Page flip turner

Is anyone aware of a way to create a page flip "ebook" out of a pdf. Not like a slide show using page transitions but a file that acts like a page being flipped?

    Default Page Flip Turner

    Hi

Depends on what you are trying to achieve:

If you are looking to publish a publication for online reading then there are many solutions to do this and these allow things like embedded sound movies etc. There are solutions that you can buy or pay per document created. cerosmedia.com shows a good example of such technology.

If you are looking to send the client a mock-up of a job that is going to be printed folded and finished then take a look at FFEI's RealVue3D (RealVue3D - RealVue3D). This is unique in that it allows you to quickly convert a PDF into a 3D interactive booklet that can be mailed to a client. It also allows simulations of complex folds and print finishing effects. The file is totally interactive and portable and the client simply needs java to view the file. They can rotate, turn pages, zoom in etc and look at the simulation of the printed and finished result.

    Hope this helps !

If you have access to Indesign CS4, it's built in.
Go to the pages pallet, then click on the flyout menu, page effects

You can use DMP-International's DMP Flo Media Viewer (currently a beta product shown at Print 09). It's pretty slick. You can convert a PDF, JPEG or InDesign document to a Flash video and have the page flip, add in hard covers, preview separations (turn off magenta for example), make annotations in the viewer that end up as live Acrobat comments on a separate PDF layer and a few other tricks. One of the tricks being that you can compare two versions of the PDF and see where the changes are. You can also do this with an image to ,for example, see where Elpical Claro made adjustments to the image(s).

If you'd like more information I'd be happy to demo it for you.

The FFEI RealVue software described above is built into the Xitron Sierra workflow. The java applet can be exported from the same layout that will be used to impose and RIP the job, and distributed as necessary to anyone with java for viewing. Very cool bonus feature.
