It's actually a bit more complex.

These files come from government employee's and we have little say is the way they prepare the files.

It's a very large job, and we get to bill large as well.

I would just like a work-flow that includes ID CS4, and not ID CS2, but it's sounding like all the possible work-arounds would take more time then just using ID CS2.

With a Pitstop server, I bet you could make a hot folder to add the logo and convert the ovals to spot color automatically. Then you could just goof off all day, and drop the files into your conversion hot folder before you go home. That's government style, right? :P

I'm not sure if Pitstop could change the oval colors. The Ovals are in random locations, and each page has a different number of them.

Also the logo/image I overlay is really an underlay, as I can't use transparency as ODDA (GMC) processes the files after creation, and it does not like "real" transparency. So I must place the image behind the PDF, and make sure there isn't a while background in the PDF file that keeps it from printing.

So I'm resigned to just making it work as best I can with the tools I have.

I have seen the same thing and what I think it could be is a linked PDF or ai grapic
On that page. Had booklet PDF file from customer last week was placing in InDesign just one page came up with font issue found out they placed a Ai map graphic in and that font did not get embedded in the PDF.
