    I lament the lack of prepress knowledge by clients who happily supply print ready files without the slightest idea of what they are doing, as illustrated by nearly every post in this thread where member are trying to find an way to compensate for client ineptitude

    Qualified prepress operators are a dying breed.
    I stopped getting upset for the client's ineptitude long time ago.
    I have pdf tutorial for dummy showing how to change preferences, how to make pdfs from Word and Publishers etc.
    Still getting some wrong files, but at least I tried!!

    In your file - to all objects with overprint add also Multiply
