01 Carriage Jam
We are getting this message when booting the machine.
There in no film loaded in the imagesetter.
We have notice that the Carriage drive is not coming in the home position.

Hi, Please let me know if you had a film jam or the carriage was pushed back while it was coming to home position? Did you take the carriage out for some reasons? Can you move the Carriage with Avdiag or unidiag? If you turn the machine off, and move the carriage manually, does it move freely? Any problem with Flappers blocking the carriage movement? Can you move the Flappers ?
The Flat Cable to Carriage board and DEC board, is it connected properly. Push them in. Please recheck.
Let me know,
Best Regards,

We had a film jam before this problem started and the error message was 01 Carriage Jam.
We tried unloading the media from control panel but it was not successful.
Then we switched off the machine open the drum and pulled the film up manually into the supply cassette.
After this every time we start the machine we get the message 01 Carriage Jam.
No, we have not taken the carriage out. We have not tried using Avdiag or unidiag.
When the machine is off and we move the carriage manually it moves freely.

Hi, Do I have to assume the spinner starts working(You hear the sound?) and you checked the Flat cable on the right side standing in front of machine (display side ) to the carriage board? Did you press the cable firmly??? Please make sure the cable is connected properly! Turn the machine off. you have to use both hands with left hand hold the carriage and with right hand press the flat cable in. Even Agfa Service Engineers make mistake on this.
Lat me know.

Hi,
Where are you located? .
Please do as follows:
If the cable is ok, Check the Cables of carriage motor. If they are ok, you need to test your carriage board with another Avantra 44 S machine. Take the Sockets out from the left side of the carriage board , take the flat cable out from right side(Display side) of carriage. There are 2 screws and holders holding the PCB .
On the left side: Take one of the screws and holders out completely, loose the other one and pull the carriage out from the left side of the machine. Use both hands, left hand to hold the carriage from moving back and the right hand to pull the carriage PCB out(If you are right handed)
Important Note: Do the procedure when the machine is off. Ground your hand with a piece of wire connected to machine's ground in order to protect the pcb against electrostatic .
Hope this will help.

Thanks for the help
I am located in Surat, India.
The problem was with the encoder.
First we cleaned the encoder and tried, but it didn't work.
We changed the encoder and the machine is working fine now.
