    Default Sherpa 43i media/saturation reduction

We have a Sherpa 43i we have converted from a proofer to a poster printer using the Agfaset RIP. We have been using AGFAJET Photograde Satin Piezo paper in a 24, 36, and 42 inch width. However, it is getting more expensive and harder to come by. Is there a substitute media available or is there any way to change the density of the ink in the RIP to reduce the saturation of ink to make it printable on other brands of coated media.

Agfa makes it necessary to use ColorTune to perform a proper ink limit on the Sherpas, however, there is a work-around. If you have a profiling package that allows, you can create a profiling target that is ink limited, and then create an ICC profile that conforms to that TAC. This way the RIP is performing the ink limiting as a part of the color management process.

It's not a great solution, but it'll work.

Thanks Rich Apollo. In order to simplify the process whould there be an alternative brand of paper that could be substituted for the Agfa media without limiting the ink?
