Hi Robert,
Take a look at what we’ve done many month ago for Le Soleil newspaper in Quebec City…
TGLC Color Management and Color Control Solutions: PerfX Softwares, Training, Implementation, Certification
The client is using our devicelink profile (PerfX Device link Pro) to optimize ink on press for newspaper.
Only good feedback from the editor and their advertisers!

GCR and Color Management....another thought.....
ORIS Press Matcher is an easily integrated product that provides color management to files being sent to any digital press. ORIS Press Matcher uses an iterative CMYK to CMYK color conversion process to optimize files sent to digital presses so that the press can easily operate within any desired color space. ORIS Press Matcher provides color management upstream in the work flow in front of the Digital Front End and eliminates the need for subjective color adjustment on the digital press. ORIS Press Matcher can
be configured either as a standalone product or integrated within existing workflows.
ORIS Press Matcher applies all file color management functions independent of the DFE setting for all features and functions other than color management. Color management functions are set to native color within the specified print queue while allowing setting for all other features and function setting remaining applicable. With respect to the color management setting it is important to ensure that all color management settings are set to native color vs. selecting default color management settings. Default color management settings do apply an ICC method of color management that will negate the color
management applied to files processed through ORIS Press Matcher.
ORIS Press Matcher does not replace the need to perform daily calibration, basic operator maintenance and scheduled maintenance for each printer using ORIS Press Matcher. To be used effectively and accurately, ORIS Press Matcher requires each printer to be maintained and operated according to manufacturer’s specifications.
ORIS Press Matcher has Device Link Support and can export a Device Link Profile to any RIP that supports Device Links, to enable a fully color managed VI workflow, or simply for ease of use.
ORIS Press Matcher has recently been the tool used to enable HP to certify its digital presses to G7.
Common Configurations: CGS ORIS Press Matcher may be installed to color manage between thefollowing configurations:
1. Color-manage between Offset Press and Digital Press. Color management may be to either press profile or industry standard profile.
2. Color-manage between Digital Press to Digital Press of same or dissimilar model and
manufacturer.
3. Color manage between both or either of 1 and 2 with the addition of ink jet proofing device tosimulate output of digital and/or offset production.
Please let me know if you would like to leard more,

Hello to both of you who replied...thanks!
What is the cost of either of your systems coming in at? Is it software that is being added to the prepress workflow, do I need to add hardware?
Regards,
Robert

Hey Robert,
Thank you for your interest in CGS's color management solution.
To answer your question it is both hardware and software and it would be added to your prepress workflow.
Please tell me more about your operation. Do you have injet proofers, any sprectro reading devices (like an eye one or DTP70)?
Cost wise, it could vary....depending on what you already have and what you are looking to accomplish.
May I email you directly more information based on your responses?

We at Compose OEM Alwan's Color Hub and call it Inkscript Optimizer. If you have any questions on it, please free to ask me. We have customers with sheet fed, open and heatset web presses using it and they are getting great results.

As I said in a previous post, Automatic Ink Reduction Software / GCR , you can realize many of the benefits of device link profiles made by Perfx, and any other, by using Callas pdfToolbox plug-in or Server at a very modest price point. There's not quite the same level of logic in pdfToolbox and how it applies device link profiles as there is in much higher end products. But you can begin to realize real benefits rapidly using pdfToolbox and device link profiles. If anyone has any questions please feel free to let me know.

Our company uses GMG Ink Optimizer.
It works great, it takes virtually no time to set up.
Outstanding results.
Does what it says it does.
What more can you say?
