Default ab dick 2340 RIP Help!

I'm having trouble getting 11x17 layouts. I can't simply set the RIP to run a 11x17. The RIP tells me the document size is to large and shows the image way off the edges of the plate area and I'm running 12x19 poly plates. Can anyone help or give any tips on how to get a 11x17 plate out of the ab dick DPM2340?

I've been playing around with it and I can get 11x17 documents to go into the RIP but it seems that the Image area is only 8.5x11. How can I change the Image area size in the RIP. I have the RIP that came with the AB Dick DPM2340 they call it the PrintersRIP. If you ask me the PrintersRIP sucks and gives you limited capabilities.

The rip that the 2340 uses is the Harlequin Rip. It has been one of the industry standard rips for many years. If it is saying that the document size is too big then either the plate size is set too small or you are sending a landscape job to a portrait layout or vice versa. Another issue is that if you are sending to a 12 inch wide plate with crop marks and bleeds that are too big. if the crops and bleeds are 1/2 inch or more and the job size is 11 inch then it won't work. You can verify which of these issues you have by highlighting the problem job in the que and hitting info. It will show you what the sizes are.

Also make sure that the application that you are sending from is using (Quark,InDesign) is printing using the correct document size for the job. If you are printing an 11X17 with crops and bleeds it cant be printed on 11X17 paper. Make sure that you are using the correct PPD also.

I've tried sending the document all different kinds of ways and no matter how I send it, it wont come out. I have been able to get the 11x17 document to send now but in ROAM it cuts off part of the end of the page and the info on the RIP tells me that the document size is only 8.5x11. I'm not trying to send it with crops or bleeds or anything. It's seems like the only image area the RIP is allowing me to make plates for is 8.5x11. I've tried all kinds of things. I tried sending the document as 8.5x11 and then using the 2-up feature but that did not work it just makes the image 4.25x5.5 to fit the one document 2-up with in the 8.5x11 image size. I've tried so may different things I've even called AB DICK and couldn't help without coming out the shop and charging a ton of money thats probably something small that they could just tell me over the phone. It almost seems like I didn't get the full version of the RIP.

The only way that the Rip would tell you the document is 8.5x11 is that it is being sent as that size. In the info screen you will see a button that that says Configure Device. If you click on it it should show you the plate information. What does it say for size and and gripper?

the plate width is 72 picas, plate height is 115.05 picas, Gripper margin is 6 picas. It's telling me the maximum width is 72 picas maximum height is 109.05 picas. the page layout is set to tabloid 11x17 with no margins so the image can go right to the edge. I'm sending it from Illustrator. I also tried from InDesign and Acrobat.

First of all, change all the units to inches so that there are no issues in converting. It is alot easier that way. So when you look at the info, it should show you both the page width and height. Does the width show 11 and the height show 17?

It's a 11x17 document being sent through a 11x17 print driver. After sending it to the active queue Im clicking the info button for that job at that point it's telling me that the document size is 8.5x11. The view in ROAM shows me that the image is only showing 8.5X11 of the whole image. i can tell because its cutting off half the first page and half the second page.

How are you sending the job to the rip? Are you printing to it or sending to a hot folder? Are you using the DPM2340 PPD in Indesign and Illustrator?
Also, are you saying that the page width is showing 8.5 and the length 11?

I'm sending to the RIP through printing in Illustrator. from there it goes into the RIP's active queue. Yeah my page size in illustrator is showing 11x17 and when it's sent to the RIP it's showing page with as 8.5 and length as 11.
