    Default Hp 5000

Can you all give some more advice on printing poly plates? We run a Cheif 17 and have an HP 5000 for printing plates.

Cleaning plate before use, specific product?

Do we need to etch the plates? If so with what?

Should we thin the fountain solution with alcohol?

We haven't really played with it too much. The husband has been working OT at his real job. He tried it the other day and was still getting color on the background, real faint but there.

Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

    Thanks!!

The main goal is to use the least amount of toner to get a good image and the highest fusing temperature. Set the toner to 1 and the fuser to rough/cardstock = high. As far as cleaning the plate, most plates use a plate prep solution that cleans the plate before running of any loose toner particles that might effect printing. There is no etch. As far as alcohol, it should be avoided if possible. Use either an alcohol substitute or if you must use alcohol, run at the minimum level. Check with your dealer and see if they can get you a technical guide on proper operation.
