    Default laser problem

    Hi guys,

Just received this message from my lotem 400 - Expose ended with no good Laser, or something like that: Started with 23, ended with 0.
Also the lotem had a windows crash in the same time. I restarted the machine and tried to re expose the job. The message i get is: Expose started with no good laser.
I wonder if my laser diodes are gone for good, or it's just a software problem? It's weird that all died at the same time.
    Any ideea?

    Thanks

    razvan

    Hello Razvan,
First check the carriage motor. Possibly it does not move the laser head to the calibration sensor and after exposure does not move the carriage.
Second, check the calibration sensor and the final optics of the laser- if they are clean?\
Third- go to laser group and calibrate all lasers.

    Good Luck!

    hi ansoft,
thanks for the swift answer. i tried to move the carriage to 200 position and to HP. both times heard that little noise like it was starting to move, but nothing happened. what can i do next, to figure out what's wrong?

    Razvan,

Take the back panel off and try and move the Lead screw by hand. Maybe the carriage is stuck. After this put the cheaters in and move the carriage motor again.

    hi Peter,

thanx for your profi answer. Actually that is the problem: tha carriage motor can not move due to some physical problem. Last weeks i outputted around 60-80 plates in 8hours. the rubber on the output down rollers, being old enough adn working at high temperature, just melted down and ended up on the carriage screw and path.
Now the question is: what chemicals do i need to clean the rubber (is it 90% alcohol?) and to grease the screw after the cleaning? What kind of textile should i use to clean? Cotton? Cotton pads, ear sticks?

    thanx,
    rz

YOu will need Silicon grease for the srew . Make sure that you clean the lead screw well and there will be no bits on it as it can get into the coupling of the carriage. The roller you can clean with alcohol using a lint free cloth that does not leave bits behind. Good luck and let me know how you got on.

at this time i'm cleaning the screwand the path, but i think there is melted rubber inside the coupling of the carriage.

Just try and remove as much rubber as you can and move the screw by hand first and then with the motor and make sure that the carriage moves smoothly.Well done for doing all this and hope you will get it back working again and saving money for a service call.

i just finished clearing the rubber. now i can move the carriage, whereve i want. that was not possible before. But when i try to expose a job it returns the same error: EXPOSE STARTED WITH NO GOOD LASER.
any ideea about what should i do next? how can i calibrate the lasers: from the Expose System - Laser Group - reset diodes?
This jjust happen in the middle of an urgent printrun with 100 plates and i'm stuck at the plate 85.

Yes try reseting the diodes than do a calibrate with 50mw and if ok with 200mw. open the carriage motor when you do the above and watch the numbers at the bottom of the motor screen that after it goes to zero it will go maybe to a Negative number like -3 where it will try7 and calibrate the diodes.
