Couple of digital printing problems - can you help?
Hi there.
I'm having a couple of issues and wonder if you guys can help me figure it out.
First, on my KM 1050, I'm only using the driver to send PDFs (mostly) to the machine. Yesterday, it started to print only the first 40, or 98, or 128 pages, whatever it decides to print and then just stops. When I try to print the rest of the pages, it doesn't recognize them. The driver is K 1050 VXL version 3.1.2.0. Any ideas why the communication is shutting down mid-print?
Second, on my KM C6501, the machine won't staple while printing. It'll staple while copying, just not while printing. The IT peeps say the driver needs to be updated and my IT people downloaded it, but have no idea how to install it (it's for a Creo). Does anyone know how to install this driver and can that truly be the cause of not stapling?
Thanks for any info you may share with me. We don't have an IT contract, so we'll have to pay extra to have them come out. Probably won't be a problem, but thought I'd throw it out to the experts out there.
Thanks,
Cathie

Have tried Konica's Digital Solution Center? It is included in many of the service contracts. the number is 1-800-653-2652. They can help with assisting with stuff like this.

1.) try resaving your pdf; try printing from a different computer; try splitting up the pages.
2.) if you're on mac, drop the driver files into the PPD's folder in library/printers
if you're on pc, i believe there is a drivers folder somewhere in printers.
check to see that firmware is updated as well.

If your on a mac, Macs in general have been having a ton of issues lately with printing in general due to the most recent OS update.
and yes there is a possibility that your driver or cero need updating
Do you use one of the larger creo rips? or the one mounted to the back of the machine.
Assuming you're running xp or windows 7. The driver will install just like any other printed go into Add a Printer and follow the wizard, then when it asked for your disk, just select Browse and add the file from the driver folder (I forget the file extension but it should be the only one visible on the list by default.
Also you will want to check that the option is turned on in the driver for stapling. Under Properties (for the creo print driver) in Printers and drivers, go to installable options and make sure your options on the machine are selected and updated.
Hopefully this will solve some of your problems

Thanks for the suggestions.
Turns out, it wasn't the PDF, the file was fine. On the 1050, it was a corrupt driver so they came and did a re-install with an update and on the 6501, they forgot to set up the machine for stapling when they installed it. Duh.
The guy who's in charge of paying for it fought his way through to it being their problem, so it ultimately got covered under our service contract.
All's well now. Thanks!!!
