Default Pitstop 7.22 Preflight - Page Size Errors & CMYK Errors

Hi there Guys,

A couple of little questions about pistops preflighting functions.

1. Is it possible to build separate preflights for Eg. A4's, A3's, A2's, custom sizes etc...
We already have typical CMYK preflight profile sorted, but not for custom preflights for Incorrect page sizes... (I have been relying on 'the page box info' page in the preflight for sizes) but can you set up pitstop to error on wrong page sizes?...

2. Can you set the preflight to error, if the art within the pdf is in the wrong position. Eg. Not centred within the pdf etc... (Relating to issues of positioning pdfs when imposing in preps)

3. If the job is meant to PMS only, no CMYK. Can you build one to error that the pdf contains CMYK elements.

just want to know if it is possible to make the preflights more accurate when reporting errors... Have played around a bit, but want to know if anyone else has bothered to do this or if is possible.

1. Yes, absolutely. PitStop can check for the size of any of the PDF boxes (trim, crop, bleed, art and mediabox). So you could easily customize a PDF Profile so that it errors (or warns) on a trimbox not being A4.

2. Depends on how exactly your document is formed to be honest. I would send an example file and your question to support@enfocus.com for this one so that they can see whether this is possible.

3. As far as I can see you can't use any of the predefined checks in the PDF Profile (unless you know beforehand how many spot colors you're expecting), but you can create an Action List to check for this (and use that Action List from within the PDF Profile). Again, support will be able to help you with the details.

Regards,
David.

HI there David,

THanks for your response.

Is it possible for you to please go through the settings for a preflight to error on set A4 size pdf...

Eg. pdf size of 230.8mm x 317.8mm with trims sizes within the pdf of 210mm x 297mm.

Ive gone through the manuals, im having a lot of trouble working this simple one out

Hi Bansheei,

Follow these steps:

- Go to Window>Show PDF Profile panel
- Select PDF Profile you want to change and go to Manage>Edit
or
- Create new PDF Profile by selecting the local database and going to Manage>New
- Select the category 'Page Size'
- enable it (if this hasn't been done already)
- Select the trim box in the dropdown list on the top of the panel
- activate the check 'Page size is not....'
- Fill out 210mm x 297mm
- Run the PDF Profile on a file.

Cheers,
Brain
