MIS to create Blue Job Folders
Hi
I have been producing BackStage reportcards using data imported from my Filemaker MIS.
What I would now like is the MIS to create the Blue Job Folders when I select a button within Filemaker.
I know this can be done but not sure how.
Would this work if I send a SQL query from my MIS to BackStage?
Do I need the JDF module in BackStage?
Does anyone know how I go about this?
Regards
Peter

hi peter,
use the scriptmaker in FM to write the JDF (from templates) that saves the file into a hotfolder that is picked up by backstage JDF module.
easy

Hi digi
Have you done this?
Do you have a JDF file created by Filemaker you can send me?
If so do you use the "Execute SQL" script within Filemaker.
regards

Inspect this Esko Job Management JDF documentation:

Hi Gramshi
Thanks for the info
Are you currently using a Filemaker MIS with Backstage.
If you are I would like to see what type of file is produced by Filemaker to work with JDF.

Hi Guys,
Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but i was wondering if anyone had any luck exporting a JDF ticket from FileMaker.
I really want to see if its possible to export one from our home brew system.
If anyone could share some scripts or tips, that would be great.
Thanks,
Ian

I believe there is a payable option that you need for backstage to accept external JDF to create jobs. Have you tried calling esko support about this?

Just wanted to bump this again. I also would like to know if anyone has had any luck creating a JDF file from FileMaker or has any links to info on how to do so.

JDF for FM-Pro
Hi all
yes we have several customers where JDFs are squeezed out of FM-pro, ending up on our BackStage/Automation Engine hotfolder and so creating' blue' Jobs.
This link with FMpro was actually 1 topic + demo'd at our Esko user meeting ; in 2007 I think.
Just ask Esko, who will refer you to North-Amercian contact for MIS integrations Terry Milano - temi@esko.com
You will need that that 'JDF module' indeed.
Mind that the 'JDF-DIY' years a long gone : we offer professional help now: read: this module is no longer for sale as a technical module, but only available when wrapped in Solution Services, read; training by specialists who regulary analyse and implemennt MIS integrations
Just talk to Terry to learn what kind of help would best fit your project.
Hope this helps
Wim
