Default BackStage Error's

Hi

We have been using BackStage/Deskpack for about 8 months and we are finding that when running tasks within Illustrator we keep getting failing errors. We cure the problem by copy and paste the illustrator file onto a new document and re-saving the job. Then launch the task and it's fine.

does anyone else suffer with this.

Regards
Peter

Default Errors

First step of course is to look at the report log. Most often there is info that will tell you the reason for the task failing. In your tasks window from Illustrator, on the top right is a pulldown. Select "show report". If the task failed after export you will see the error in Backstage tasks.

Default BackStage Error's

The error messages are:

Starting DeskPack Workflow Task.
Launching Workflow Ticket...
Starting (DeskPack) Esko-Native Export Task.
Processing Page 1 ...
Font <Helvetica-83pv-RKSJ-H> missing, replaced by <Ryumin-Light-83pv-RKSJ-H>
Font <Ryumin-Light-83pv-RKSJ-H> missing, replaced by <Ryumin-Light-83pv-RKSJ-H>
PostScript error happened
Error: Missing EPF document parameters

we then copy to new layout and then re-save and run again and it's fine.

DeskPack connects via smb in leopard I think.

This happens to us from time to time. It seems to be a Helvetica font issue. It only happens to us when a certain version of helvetica loads. Even when you create to outlines it still remains until you copy the artwork to a different document and save out as another name. Very frustrating

There's an option in the Esko Preferences to outline the fonts on output. The file remains live text, but the fonts will outline temporarily while it launches. Not sure if that is an option for you, but it certainly solved the problem for us.
