Make sure you have an Intel Mac. Adobe CS5 nor 10.6 support PowerPC processors. If you have a G4 or G5 you are going to be buying a new Mac as well...

The word from HDM when I was going through this OS upgrade was that Prinect 4.5.1+ and Signa 4.5.40+ are the only versions they will support in 10.6. The lethargic adoption speed and lack of expertise on the Mac side is simply unacceptable. The wait time between MacOS 10.6 release and a patch for Signa to work within it was a month short of a year.

I've only ran Prinect Cockpit 4.5+ in MacOS 10.6. I also ran Prinect Cockpit 3.5 in MacOS 10.5 without any issues. So I don't know if you will have issues or not, my gut says this may not work at all. As always you will definitely have to configure the MacOS client-side networking components per Heidelberg's guide. The most recent guide that I am aware of is for MacOS 10.5. It's generally the same steps in MacOS 10.6, but a few things have changed.

With Signa I am almost certain that you will have issues if it will work at all. I was told repeatedly that Signa would not be supported with MacOS 10.6 until the 4.5.40 update came out. It was finally released in the last month and has been working for us without issue.

I strongly suggest placing a call or sending an e-mail to HDM before making any purchases for software so that what you expect to be a thousand dollar upgrade doesn't turn into possibly a tens of thousands of dollars upgrade.

CS5 does not require 10.6. only 10.5.7. But you would need 10.6 if you need to run 64 bit version of CS5.

I have just recently updated to 10.6.x and there are a couple of bugs. Resource forks on smb volumes and networking with printready is a little different then 10.5

Signa the latest patch I see a bug with the scheme editor when you go back to the group list it hides the window in the background, not a show stopper, but if your window placement is off you cannot continue properly.

I would not even think of running 10.6 with anything less then the latest version of printready.

    Good luck
