    Default Gas Ghosting

I had a customer recently run a job with a ghosting issue. The job has a heavy amount of 4 color process with with a 877 silver boxes in it. The job was also coated with a soft touch coating. The only areas that ghosted was the silver areas. The customer is trying to say it was the four color inks. What could cause this problem. And what could help this from being an issue? The process inks are a VOC of about 15%.

A low VOC silver ink or a silver made with less metal (aluminum) content will often help
How quickly the job was backed up will also influence ghosting, as well as too much heat
The fact that soft feel coating was used it inherintly has a very very dull surface which also can influence
Additionally the soft feel aqueous type coating are derived from matte poyurethane which remain soft and tacticle.

You should try a Metrocoat Soft Feel Aqueous with their Crosslinker to improve not only ghosting but rub and burnish as well

There is also a varnish from Van Son which works well but needs to be applied ASAP after the job is run.
