lower tack ink

Any one know of any good lower tack inks? We get Flint ink in 2000# totes, don't know the specifics. We were running a job on Verso 35# Trilogy (SCA) and the fountains kept plugging up withing 20m copies. We were just pounding the lint out because we couldnt see dipping ink every half hour. We had some thing called Mando, it was a little better, but not as good as it should be. Is it something we just deal with or is there something better? Thanks, Andrew

You're obviously a web printer, and my guess is that you are also heatset but it's not clear what you mean by "the fountains kept plugging up" - please explain this further. Also please clarify "We were just pounding the lint out because we couldnt see dipping ink every half hour"

If you're referring to ink backing up into your water pans, then it's more like the water pickup of your inks, or the formulation of your fountain solution that causes this. Altering either will effect this.

Usually lint buildup occurs on the blanket when the tack is too high - were your blankets getting dirty quickly?

Whatever the situation is - and assuming you do need a lower ink tack - Flint should be more than capable of altering your formulation to reduce the tack for your particular situation. We have had them alter our ink formulation to work with our equipment and product mix and they have been pretty good at working with us in that regard. They have technical specialists that help troubleshoot the issues you are encountering. (I do not work for or are affiliated with Flint - I am a printer)

yeh its on an 80's Komori Sys 38, heatseat web. We could get 100k before washing blankets, but the ink fountains looked like they had sand in them. The keys were at 75 or so and the fountain roller looked "zeroed". So if you force it through which is probably bad for the keys, it would bring the ink levels back up for a while.

i see where ur coming from but if you run ink with too low a tack then the ink will carry more water and cause more lint and paper to be pulled to the blanket. At this point i would go back to basics and check roller temp etc and check if your ink is not running to hot and causing the issues you mentioned. I know this will only confuse the isssue but it may not be the ink, also get as many experts in to look over your working practices as in my experience ink usually works exceptionaly well in lab conditions and its a case of trying to control your enviroment.
