    Default Playing Card Paper

    Hi everyone,

I am looking for a playing card paper supplier. The casino grade kind, where it is two pieces of paper with glue in between them. Having a hell of a time finding it, anyone that could point me in the right direction?

I believe that is part of the card manufacturing process, a very specialized niche.

Definately a niche market. They have special presses and finishing equipment to do it.

About 10 years ago I designed a deck of playing cards for John Deere tractors. Each card had a different JD tractor from their first tractors until now.

They were printed at a playing card company in Ohio...When I get home I will see if I can dig up the info. I flew out there for a press proof...It was a really cool facility and one of the best print related trips I ever went on!

Try contacting Kelstar (ACTEGA Kelstar - Graphic Arts - Products - ACTEGA) They make coatings for casino playing cards - specifically their Micro Cell Technology™ so their sales people would probably know about the substrates their customers use for playing cards.

    Default Playing Card contacts...

The problem you are having in finding playing card paper stock is not unusual. Casinos are very secretive and restrict playing card stock availability due to unauthorized duplicates and fake card reproduction concerns. You may want to use other card stock if it is available.

You should contact US Playing Card in Erlanger, KY for more info regarding card stock availablity. They make most of the playing cards that you describe...

    Hello Cory!

According to the movie "Oceans 13", all the casino gambling supplies came out of Mexico. You may want to rent the video and see if you can read the name of the company on the building or one of the boxes that Brad Pitt was smuggling out of the country.

No one seems to want to divulge where to get large sheets of this paper from. We were able to find 8.5x11 though a paper supplier, but that's really too small to be feasible. Guess the search continues.

Im looking for sheets in the 12x18ish size,

From my days in Paper, probably the best grade available is through Argo Wiggins or any of their agents should be able to help.
Yes there are cheaper grades from Indonesia and China but recently a printer here had a job rejected because of a few unnoticable to the naked eye spots on the stock. Ouch! very expensive reprint.
Also i think there maybe a decent grade from the Kohler mill if it still exists.

it is actually spelled koehlerpaper.com they are German but they have offices in NY and in the past held some inventory in locally. Arjo Wiggins (check the spelling) also made quality product.

be careful of domestic converters it is harder than it looks to make this substrate. We tried several suppliers and experienced all sorts of curl problems. The Koehler substrate ran successfully on a Xerox iGen3.
