converting to Doctor blade inking system

Greetings to all,
Some questions as i am new to the site.
What is ment by "fountian" in referance to ink supply?

I work in the ink room for a company who converts and prints paper to food industry bags and wraps. we are looking at changing from the bath design ( rubber roller and steel roller submerged in waterbased ink, steel roller transfers ink to the plate) to a enclosed doctor blade with anlox roller system.
will i need to change the strengeth of the current inks we use?
any thoughts (tips)on these systems??

An ink fountain is a device on a printing press for storing ink and supplying/metering it to the press printing system. In Litho this would be the printing rollers in flexo it would be to the Anilox roller. Two companies that I know who make conversions of your type of system to enclosed doctor blade systems are Harris and Bruno and Tresu. Your ink strength will depend on the type of Anilox rollers that work best for the kinds of work you intend to do.
