Default Gloss Varnish on Permanent Ink

Anyone have any experience printing gloss varnish on conventional permanent ink, will flaking of the varnish occur because of the wax in the ink ?
If anyone has any advice no this it would be greatly appreciated.

have printed both Gloss and Matt varnishes on conventional inks, if you are concerned with flaking then specify 'wax free' inks from your supplier

this should not be a problem if printed in line over wet ink. it could be a concern if printed over dry inks on a second pass thru the press.

A harder drying, low volatile gloss O.P. Varnish is suggested. Check with your ink supplier to make sure the inks are imprintable. They can have wax, just not the type that bloom to the surface and would cause possible crawling or an orange peel effect. Microcrystalline wax is the biggest no no to have in the ink products that would emulate these issues. Really should not be much of a conundrum.
