Can anybody help me??

I have a jam up with film in my dolev 4 press. I need to get the drum to release the film to get it out. I have done work on dolev 200 an 400 in the past, (walked thru over the phone). I don't know if there is anything you can tell me that will help. I'm in So Calif and the only guy I know that is left out here is not returning my calls as yet. I have been getting the following errors:

E89 - Film Feed Task Fail ( for a while now intermittantly) and followed by
F152 Film Crash.

I had previously been able to get the film out after these errors by doing a change media or film unload, but this time it jammed up bad. I would be most grateful for any advise or suggestions.

First of all open the cassette door and then both left and right door
Try and pull the film back slowly towards the cassette
If it is hard to pull it back then cut the film inside the drum from one side to the other
Now try and remove the film from both ends. ( are you on line to a processor or using the take up cassette?)
After you managed to remove the film, put the "cheaters" into both doors and do a film feed.
During the film feed watch what is going on inside the Dolev and see where it gets jammed.

I have tried to pull the film out and it is REALLY stuck. I was hoping there was a command that would release the pressure on the drum so the film would come out easily. I have had it jam a few times and I suspect it is the rollers or possibly an attachment issue? The film has always pulled out easily enough, but this time it's bad.

Hello again,
I know it is very difficult to take the film out if it is stuck but there is always a way to do it if it hasn't wrapped itself around one of the rollers.
You did not say if you have got an on line processor or take up cassette?
Have you tried and cut the film and do it that way?
You can always put the cheaters in; go into maintenance mode; find the screen where the motors are and try and run the motors backwards.

I have an inline processor, and I did move the carriage to home position and was able to remove the film by pulling alternately and moving the carriage by hand. It appears to be ok, as film cleared when reloaded and started up. I had to make an interlock thing, as one was missing - ? Got it rolling for now...I think my issue is bad rollers, another whole issue I'm afraid. It went thru without issues this time, but the rollers appear/feel bad on the outer edges of where the film goes.....

Dolev's sticky rollers at output side (in case of on/in-line processor) - weakest point...
Lots of complaints worldwide.

Pleased to hear that you managed to get the 4Press working again. Well done.
If you have sticky rollers, you can temporarily overcome this by applying some baby talcum powder on them.

major reasons for that,

sticky rollers, loose springs. if you fix them you can run your machine with default motor prm.

We ran the same imagesetter for years to a processor and constantly had problems. Our solution, disconnect the bridge to the processor and run to a cassette. Worked great, and solved our roller problems. If you are experiencing this alot like we were, it only takes a few more minutes to remove the cassette and place it into the processor and saves alot of headache.

of course offline use of Dolev 4press is less problematic, sometimes you face ACC buffer too large.
But most of customers want to use online. they don't like to cut the film roll. especially newspaper companies.
The dolev 4 press needs two times a year service visits. the rollers and springs should be checked, and be replaced or adjusted when needed.
