Kodak "Install" files?

My Matchprint Proofer $hit the bed last night, had to ghost the drive this AM.
I'm trying to install the Kodak proofer controller software. Original DVD has ".install" file on it. Readme says refer to your "technet" article on how to install. Winblows doesn't know what to do when you double-click.

.. Anyone ever rebuild their Matchprint proofer themselves, or is this yet ANOTHER attempt for Kodak to extort their user base for money (e.g. call service, have PO# ready, or sign up for the monthly blood-letting in their service contracts?)
