    Default Type Dropping off Plates

We just pulled a job off press after noticing type was missing. File supplied as a PDF from CS4. All type was on the SpinJet Proof, two characters we're missing on the Epson. This was a 4 color job, Refined CMYK in Prinergy Evo. Virtual Proofs looked good at 1200 dpi. Remade Virtual Proofs at 2400 dpi and then it showed that the type was missing. Anyone ever seen this or have any ideas? Thanks!

Do you have more info on the type of PDF? Are fonts embeded or subsett? Is it a pdfx1a? Is it originating from an Adobe software (which one, and version) ore from an office application (which one, version and PDF creator.)

It wasn't KO type set to overprint. It was from InDesign CS4, but not a PDF/X. Fonts were embeded.

Is the type visible on the pdf and not on the plate? Try printing to a regular printer as separations and see if the type is still there. If so, it could be a rip problem - possibly an updated driver is needed? We used to have strange characters show up in our pdf files when sent to plate. All software on the platemaker and additional settings in the print cue solved the problem. In the meantime we did lots of plate proofing.

We had this same issue with our Prinergy system last year. There was an update from Kodak that fixed that problem. You might want to check into that option.
