Versioning Automated

Can this workflow be done?

Customer uploads base art and 500 different version (black overprint only).

Is there a way to automate the Versioning part of the job, then automate the imposition after pages are generated?

Attached is my Version Plan setup. My Process Template has "Build Versioned Page" checked.

The automation isn't working, but I'm not understanding why it isn't working.

- I made a layered PDF that has an "A" on Layer A, "B" on Layer B, etc up to "F".
- I have a second PDF of 4-color Common art.
- The layered PDF is Refined with layers and looks good.
- When added to the Version page and Generated, there are no errors during Generation, but the Versioned Page has an Error layer and letters "B" through "F" are on it. All layers contain the letter "A" instead.
Any ideas?
