Question ISO Certification ?

This morning I found out that our company will be pursuing ISO Certification. ISO 9001.

AND.... that I will be leading the way !

I have but one question....

How do I pursue ISO 9001 certification ?

I have been reading about it at ISO.ORG, but this has done nothing but put me into information overload mode.

Can anyone suggest where I might begin?

And how do I apply to for this certification?

In spite of all of the information found on the site, it does not indicate where to go to apply, or if it does I still have not found it.

Thanks,
Bob

If your lost as to where to go to get started, you might consider looking for a consultant. If you currently have no quality management system, it might not be a bad idea, though not cheap. Obtaining a copy of the standard is obviously a must and gives you the requirements in black and white. There are websites that can sell you templates for documentation, training presentations, as well as further assistance. example: ISO 9001 & 9000 Certification, 9001:2000, 9001:2008 Training, Internal Audit & Quality Manual Templates - The9000Store

ISO certification is done through a third party registrar. You hire them to come in and audit your system, and if you pass muster, you'll be "certified". Good idea to have gone through an internal audit or two prior to this.

Implementation is really the result of group effort within the company, but it has to be driven from the top down.

You might begin by developing a TPM (Total Production Mantenance) program on your own. Or a (TQM) Total Quality Management program. Books are available at GATF whoops -PIA.
