Default cust serv w/tech ability - metro boston

We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent CUSTOMER SERVICE/Technical Prepress person for our metro Boston location. In addition to experience in a print manufacturing envrionment, our ideal candidate will be able to identify and effectively communicate technical/production issues to customers and provide solutions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include:
· Intake and preproduction of customer supplied files
· Indentify missing elements, incorrect specifications and potential production issues.
· Determine and evaluate remedies for problem files
· Contact client to discuss options
· Accurately write job orders, specifications and instructions
· Generate technically qualified and accurate production-ready digital files.
· Work closely with all team members to ensure efficient and accurate production.
JOB FUNCTIONS include:
· Front-line contact with sales reps and clients regarding file preparation, job submission, suitability and repair
· Resize, rebuild, prepare and repair files for print production all while ensuring accuracy and quality.
· File preparation using MAC OSX and PC applications including: QuarkXpress, PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat.
· Maintain the organization of digital files using established naming conventions and folder structures.
· Work independently under tight deadlines while adhering to company project workflows.
· Transfer files via FTP and email to clients and vendors. Following through to ensure files were received.
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED include:
· Expert knowledge of:
• Macintosh and Windows PC's in a graphic arts environment
• Publishing applications including: QuarkXpress, PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat 6.0
• Proper file preparation for various printing methods (offset, digital, photographic, etc.)
· Solid knowledge of:
• Color separations,
• various printing methods
• PDF workflows.
• Typesetting, tracking, kerning with an eye for layout and design
• Electronic prepress environment; including retail, P.O.P and collateral production, printing and font management.
· The ability to develop and share solutions to project-related problems.
· Outstanding customer communication and positive interpersonal skills and the ability to change direction easily.
