Red Sun Press is a cooperatively-run printing and design company in Boston, MA. We provide offset and digital printing as well as full bindery services for a growing customer base of non-profit organizations, socially responsible businesses and government agencies.

Objective: Coordinate the work of the Production Team and Front End Team and have a birds eye view of shop operations and work flow.

Duties include:

Coordination with Front End
Coordinate the work of the Production Team and the front end team
Check Job tickets for job planning
Schedule jobs
Order paper
Coordinate and review as needed prepress proofs

Operations coordination
Coordinate prepress, digital, press and bindery operations to facilitate smooth production of all work
Check and order pressroom supplies
Maintain paper inventory
Deal with production problems as needed
Schedule equipment mechanics as needed
Coordinate between press and prepress teams to solve problems
Check press proofs (with customers when necessary)
Coordinate shipping
Schedule temp workers as needed
Coordinate with outside binderies and mailhouse
Work with prepress on rule ups and send bindery info to outside binderies
Check bindery proofs
Work with team on equipment maintenance and upgrades
Deal with personnel issues
QC jobs during operations and before they go out of shop

Skills Required
Excellent people and communications skills
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Knowledge of offset and digital printing
Ability to multi-task and work in a busy production environment
Knowledge of offset and bindery planning
Computer skills and knowledge of digital workflow systems

Skills preferred
Production management experience
Bindery and press skills
