Director of Operations at Confidential in Greater Seattle Area
Position Summary:
Directly responsible for all aspects of manufacturing operations including quality, cost and service levels to meet company goals in a flexible, high volume, highly seasonal manufacturing environment. Primarily responsible for material, labor and equipment management to meet service levels within cost guidelines and drive continuous improvement in quality and profitability. Responsible for environmental health and safety, training and quality improvement.
Essential Responsibilities
• Recruit, hire and manage effective management staff over manufacturing operations
• Lead and continue to develop leadership and management skills with direct reports.
• Ensure sufficient direct labor is available, trained and motivated within cost guidelines including extensive use of temporary labor, 24/7 during peak seasons.
• Ensure consistent high level of quality for products produced (Print quality, bindery, converting)
• Ensure customer service SLA’s are met for on time delivery (Industry leading service levels)
• Manage a financial budget for production, product engineering, and maintenance
• Lean Manufacturing leader able continuously improve cycle time and efficiency, results oriented.
• Ensure safe working environment
• Manage - staff development, training, cross training, motivation, communication of goals and work priorities.
• Implement and maintain work procedures as necessary to support scalable and highly seasonal volume.
Qualifications
• Significant experience in a digital print environment including web to print, and automated workflows, with challenging service level requirements.
• BS in business, technology, engineering or significant industry experience
• 10+ years directly related experience include 5+ years with management of exempt and non-exempt employees
• Previous experience in managing a manufacturing operation in a high volume, quick turn and seasonal business strongly preferred
• Proven ability to build a successful team.
• Demonstrated customer focus, continuous improvement, and team management skills.
• Demonstrated competencies in establishing business processes and tools to effectively scale labor and production work activities
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills and technology savvy.
• Enthusiastic, self-directed and high-energy leader.
• Demonstrated experience with ERP, inventory control systems, and reporting tools.
• Experience in leading safety programs in manufacturing or light industrial operation strongly preferred
• Industry thought leader in the digital print and communication space
• Active participation and leadership in industry associations
