Lukas Engqvist liked post by gordo On thread : About RE: Print
If you're using RE:Print cartoons - e.g. Printing them out and posting them in your shop - I'd sure appreciate seeing how they're used. Please take a snap of how you're using it and send it to me at...

Lukas Engqvist liked post by billw@mlode.com On thread : Transparent Image Over Gradient in Illustrator
Unfortunately Rich, it does not show on my Epson 4880 with Oris rip. In this case the gradient is a process mix. The radial gradient length is about 3 inches and the values go from 0% to 10% for cyan...

Wouldn't the problem show up in your proof? Lemme' guess, the gradient is a spot color, too.
What you're describing makes sense. Some systems can RIP and output smooth shades (gradients) at...

Lukas Engqvist liked post by Prepper On thread : Ink desities on press are very low. WHY?
As Gordon implied you misunderstand me. When I say don't show the proof, I mean that if the printer JUST goes by the numbers he will sometimes get where he should faster than if he tries to match wet...

Lukas Engqvist liked post by gordo On thread : Ink desities on press are very low. WHY?
I don't think that's what Lukas meant.
If management is happy with what's happening then I would go on about my business and not worry.
If management has a problem with this situation then it's...

Lukas Engqvist liked post by gordo On thread : Ink desities on press are very low. WHY?
Dot gain (TVI) values are process monitoring metrics.
Tone reproduction curves represent the target for tone reproduction in presswork.

Lukas Engqvist liked post by gordo On thread : Ink desities on press are very low. WHY?
The problem is that in most shops there is a disconnect between prepress and pressroom. And press operators don't always understand how prepress can help them. So, if there is too much dot gain the...

Yes, indeed you can and often should. I have been capturing screen shots of software to be placed as is at 100% into manuals since 1996. No need to up sample, as they print just fine as they are.
