how many colors?

Does somebody have an idea how to ease the work of my college? He works with estimating prices, and he is coming to me time to time to check him how many colors this or that pdf has. We do not want to buy him an expensive software like PitStop, he does not need the most of its functions. On the other hand I would like to stop him disturbing me.

Any idea is welcome. The simplier the better.

If he has Acrobat Pro, he can preflight it and get all kinds of info. Can also turn on Output Preview to view separations.

Thanks D. Acrobat Pro can be a sollution, but actually I am looking for something cheaper. There is GS View eg. for taking the meaures. All I need is a similarly simple little something for the colors.
