    Unhappy Prepress Panther Pro PROBLEMS

After using the PantherPro36 for about 15 years with little or no problems, suddenly I have a big one. Software is on Mac OS9 because of ADB dongle. Normal routine is start up computer, then imagesetter, then software. Now, the software start just hangs at the start. If I switch off the imagesetter, the software starts up fine. But of course the Panther is unavailable. My service thinks I need a logic board. Could it be something else? I wanted to use a G4 with OS10 but I can't get dongle to work, even with a converter cable. I thought the SCSI output port might have to be terminated, but I'm told that it is internally terminated.

I guess the problem is a SCSI issue, just do the following: Turn off the imagesetter, turn on the computer, if Panther Rip boots automatically quit it, turn on the Panther Imagesetter, let it finish the boot process, then run the Panther Rip. That's it.

Thanks. It was a SCSI problem. Turned out to be a bent pin on the cable. Just replaced cable. Working fine once again.
