Default Interesting books / resources about offset printing?

Hi all, I am trying to learn as much as I can about printing in general, and especially offset printing. I deal with the art processes in my company, but I have never learn much about what happens "at the other side" (i.e. how CMYK or Pantone colours are actually applied to our componentry)...

Could anyone suggest either online resources or books (preferably - not the sort that has three digits in its price tag :P ) that I could start reading just to give me an idea?

To clarify - i am not trying to be an expert on the matter, but I want to make sure that I know enough so that all the decisions I take regarding colour etc also take into consideration physical constraints during the print process...

    Thanks

Thanks Alois! I have found Gordos blog (which it's got lots of amazing stuff that I am printing as we speak ). Have you got a link to your PDFs? Or are they spread out in various threads?

    Regards, and thanks!

Unless he already knows how to swear and cuss.
By the time I walk out of here, I'm going to be a lean, mean, prepress machine...

    Heidelberg - Publications + Downloads

That link has a few useful articles from PrintMedia academy that are free to download. Some of it deals mainly with troubleshooting, but you may find some things of help in there as well.

Alois' PDF's are very good for on press knowledge, Gordo's are good for Color management, although they cover a wide range of topics, in case you are trying to pinpoint something specific you would like to research.

Thanks a lot guys! Lukas - I am planning on visiting a site to oversee the creation of some wet-proofs / so I guess I should be able to gather quite a lot of feedback there!

And Kaoticor, thanks for that link - I downloaded colour management and I am printing it as we speak!

    Cheers!

A really good book to buy is a Pocket Pal. It covers a lot in a small amount of words

Looks extremely interesting! I have found two versions of this: Frank Romano (Paperback - 30 Nov 2007), and Michael H. Bruno (Paperback - Aug 2000)... do you know which one should I be purchasing?

    Regards, and thanks!
