Default A Fascinating Look Behind the Scenes of a Newspaper in 1970

I saw this on the Atlantic and I just had to share. This technology was long gone when I started but it is amazing the detail, precision and coordination it used to take in prepress.

Smile Newspapers when they were booming

Not to sound to Valley Girlish but OH MY GOD!!!

This is the world I grew up in. My dad was the production manager for the Detroit News, Houston Chronicle and the San Francisco Newspaper printing company from the early 60s to the late 70's. I was looking at those machines from Jr. High school on. They were truly amazing then and looking back at them even more amazing. I have run my share of them and watching the change of technology over the past 50 years in this business has been mind boggling.

Thanks for the link down memory lane!!

    Default I remember when....

The film on Newspaper in the 70s was great! I got into printing in the very early 70s and remember very well all the processes. We've come a long way baby!

    Thumbs up Sweet memories

My first programming steps were at Belgrade University Computer center on IBM 1130 and Fortran IV (punched cards as input and teleprinter console as output) ... best times of my life!
@Chevalier, many thanks for that link and refreshing my sweet memories!

Very cool, thanks for sharing. I heard about most of this from the "old timers". I didn't get into printing until the early 80's. (I guess I'm an "old timer now").
