David's always been up front and honest about who is he is, a vendor. If there were any smoke and mirrors then I'd mind. But as I said, he's always been up front about it. Other vendors do the same thing. But fortunately no vendor is abusing the rules as far as I see.

At any rate, David's offer is something worth checking out. No other vendor has a model like it.

    Also,

I work for a vendor. Hence I this as a responsibility to carefully shield who I work for and to ensure that my advice is impartial.

    Duncan:

I've known David for nearly 20 years, and I can attest that he is not a troll.
    Heck, I don't even think he's Norse!

Matt, if I left the impression David's advertising was misleading, the smoke and mirrors you talk about, then I apologize. Nowhere in his post did David make false claims. But that's not what I suggested. All I said was that he was advertising. And speaking as a vendor, gratuitous advertising will alienate non-vendor members and eventually bite us all.

... fortunately no vendor is abusing the rules as far as I see.
Here I'm inclined to agree. Cory is doing a yeoman's job of keeping the forum free of spam and Viagra. As the administrator of MyMorningFlight.com, our own forum, I know what he's up against.

But your point does raise a question. Where exactly do we look for the rules governing vendors? Other than what's generally accepted forum etiquette? My guess is, advertising isn't encouraged, or we'll quickly see a crack in the flood gates. Make that a torrent.
