Heidy QMDI sheet to sheet registration?

Hello all! i would like to get some feedback or ask current QMDI owners about registration on your press. i have a 1997 plus and it seems to me that the sheet to sheet registration bounces around? for instance when ganging up business cards (full bleed) when onto the guillotine there is a lot of play from 1 to 50 to 1000th sheet? is this something that can be adjusted in the machine with the proper laptop/technician? is this a paper cutting before starting the job problem, or just one of the details of this machine in general? thanks for all of you input!

the qmdi will only register to a certain degree. yes it helps to have perfectly cut paper.there is a pull guide sort of. you get decent registration if your paper is good and the guides are somewhat tight and the pile height is set well. it will bounce, but should be within a .04" range. on good 100# enamel it would often be with in .005"

Here is my two cents worth. The sidelay registration on the DI Classics and Plus models was always a weak point (mickey mouse). The Pro vastly addressed the problem. I used to check the front side rails to see if they are square. When there is a load on the feedboard I found that sometimes you had sideplay at the bottom of the pile and it was tight at the top or vice-versa. Pre-cutting also helped the problem and in some cases when running card try and remove the spring tension piece from the upper side plate. Get the sideplate as close to the paper as possible without restricting the paper travel, try and have a feeler of .004 thousand of an inch gap. This may help you get a tighter tolerance and help the problem.The same feeder is on the QM/Printmaster 2 color and customers were running 4 color process on these presses. You could get away with it if you were prepared to accept the quality that came off and your operator was capable.
