Default Roland 304 - powdering problem

    Hi

My company lend me to our sister company for two months. I have to work on Roland 304, year of manufacture 1998. I'm having problems with spray powdering. The end of a sheet is not powdered. Since i'm not familiar with Roland, i don't know if i'm doing something wrong setting up press or is there actual fault. Spray powder unit installed is from WEKO.

    Cheers,

    Jim

when you say the end of the sheet are you referring to the tail end of the sheet or are you talking about side to side? If its the tail of the sheet you might be pulsing the powder timing too short. Some powder units have provisions for the pulse length right on the powder unit itself, Others have a proximity sensor right up on an adjustable cam to allow you to powder longer. Still others have the powder length automatically set when you enter your sheet size during make ready.
If its your side to side dimension most powder units make provisions for turning off the 2 end nozzles so you dont powder your gripper bars when running a small sheet. You need to either find your operators manual for the powder unit or call weko and request more info. If its an older weko unit they have a bunch of little knobs that turn for individual zone adjustment. If thats the case then make sure they are all full open and able to pass air. Blow them out real good!!!

normaly this is done at the press, or at the powder device itself. It all depends on the type of spraying device an level of pressautomation

some powder units have a switch on the unit itself to allow the unit to run in either pulsed mode or in constant mode. If you cant figure out how to set the pulse width then the easy fix would be to put the sprayer into constant mode. In constant mode the spray will be triggered and stay on until the trigger point tells it to shut off. This will allow you to spray the entire length of sheet from front to back.
Id recommend finding the powdering length control and doing it that way as it will make for a cleaner delivery!!!

the spray length on it should automatically be set when the sheet size is input into the consul, as should the spray width

On the R300 we work on, the spray adjustments should be menu accessible on the console. The earlier versions may not. We have added a timer for our customers in similar situations.
