Yeah 1/8 is kinda to smallish for an INk forms. but keep water form 1/8. I was trying to say that make rollers Just kiss, loosen allen screws that hold caps with scale and set them to "0" as that should be a starting point. Let me ask you please - why do you think that both machines are adjusted the same? You mean both used to run fine with same setting? Hmmm you turning this in to tough cookie. Where are you located? Do you have a rider roller add on?

You can also try Mitsubishi OD-50 fountain solution. It is designed to run in continuous dampening units. It is much more concentrated (1-2 oz/gal). If you look at the price it seems expensive but with the much higher yield, it is not much more. I have seen it solve problems on Kompac, Crestline, and motorized dampeners.

Replace the Kompac with a Crestline and never look back!

I tried some Itek Maga Plate solution today and it worked. I had to adjust the nip a little tighter because it was running wet and ran all day with no build up on the lead edge at all.

Thanks for all the good advise.

    Default Kompac Toning Issue

Generally toning on a Kompac unit is a chemical problem. Either PH or a contamination issue, If it suddenly appears without having changed your settings. A build up of blanket wash or bad emulsified ink can cause this problem. A way of telling is too "drop" the water from your unit, refill and restart. If it clearer then it is a chemical problem.

The other thing with Kompac's is they need a good deglaze twice a week. Do it during washups and it will cut downtime.

We had 3 GTO's with Kompac's and ran Poly Plates for 10 years. Another very good Fountain Solution, although not cheap is Varn's Alcofree.

They are an expensive addition to a press but they pay for themselves in the long run. Less Water, brighter colours and better drying times.
