Sending messages tool

I'm looking for a tool that I can let collegues know I'm resetting a server or stuff like that. At this moment I send an e-mail but have had some complaints that not all people check their mail all the time.

Concept should be that when I send a message, every mac gets the message prompted as the top screen with a button 'close' or 'ok'. Only the admin (as in myself) can send messages. Others can only recieve.

Does such a thing exsist?

Not sure but it may be achievable using AppleScript. Post your message at Mac OSX forum of Applescript and Scripting Resources @ MacScripter There are a few very smart guys that will answer your question and even write a script just to help you out. Hope this helps.
