Default Truncated names from a PC Server

I thought this was a thing of the past. But our macs, OSX 10.4.11 are truncating FTP files that have been uploaded to out ftp site. Any one know why?

    Thanks!

Easy work-around is to request that your clients STUFF or ZIP the files before sending to your FTP site.

Zipping is the best solution - I had the same problem fr a long time and AFP or SMB was still not working for me - even with Services for Mac turned on and all sorts of registry editing on the server and terminal shenanigans on the mac. The solution? Leopard. Fixed it for me as soon as it installed! Our other Mac is still on Tiger and it still truncates the file names.
