Ghost / Disk Image Software

I am seeking opinions, experience etc. on Ghost / Disk / Drive Image software for MS Windows.

The software could be used on/with Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 R2 or later, Windows 7 Pro etc (a wide range of MS Windows OS, including home, pro and server types).

The software would need to be used with more than one computer and each computer may contain separate physical drives, so for example I may need to make a disk image of drives C, D etc.

I would wish to re-image an existing drive/s from removable USB hard-drive, dvd or perhaps another networked volume.

The software should be easy to use to make a backup and to restore the backup.

I believe Microsoft has a tool that will convert a live file system into a VM image.
