We have a Z3100 that is about 2 years old and we use it with GMG for calibrated proofs. Recently it started printing black and red marks randomly on the proofs. I did some testing when it first started and recognized a pattern that when sent through GMG I would get them but when I sent directly from my computer and bypassing GMG there were no marks. Today I did the test again and have the marks either way.
Has anyone experienced this problem or have any ideas of what it could be?
That is certainly an odd problem, here's my best guess. I'm sure you've tried the basic cleaning and the nozzle patterns look good. Since matte black rarely(never) gets used on most proofing workflows it can get clogged due to lack of use, when you do a cleaning the purged ink can be expelled and buildup on the contact in the back of the head and a disruption in the connection between the printer and the head could explain the random patterns. You can try popping the print head out and try cleaning it but likely it's just time to replace it. When you do make sure to take a look at the contact on the head assembly before putting in the new head.
Hy, i have the same problem. Can you tell me how did you solve it?
I clean the printer piece by piece, i uninstall the service station and all the printheads and the entire head system in the right part of the printer, and it still print exactly the same marks. I observe that the marks appear when a jog has red color on it. otherwise the marks doesn't appear or it's just a coincidence.
Please tell me the solving solution because i am a little desperate i have a job to print and i can not do it. And the hp support in my country sucks.
if anyone could help me in this i am in need here. It is real urgent and i can not find a way to solve this problem. I have cleaned everything inside the printer, i tried everything i was imagine it could solve the problem but the problem persist.
I have read on forums that could be the firmware or the belt that i need to change. The firmware that i have is 7.0.0.3_7 - the latest from hp and i have been using it since i have the printer so i don't think this is the problem. And the belt it doesn't look damaged and if it is the belt this marks doesn't have anything to do with a belt, it more like a head, ink purge, cleaner service problem.
i solved the problem by reinstalling the firmware and verifying the flat cables behind the carrier.
If anyone have the same problem this is the right answer - after i tried anything else.
