Epson WT7900 Driver

Two questions regarding the Epson WT7900:

Looking at the Epson site, they only have a MS Win driver available? So what if this is being installed in a Mac OS setting?

More importantly, when it comes to MS Windows XP SP2, I am having problems with the available Epson Communication Driver 1.2 for the WT7900. When it is installed, getting properties on the driver it says that "You can't print with this driver". The Test Print page does not work. I believe that the EpsonNet utility has created the correct printer port, as it looks the same as for our Epson 9900 which does work.

Any ideas on getting the WT7900 to work under MS Windows XP SP2? There is very little HD space left of C drive, so I am wary of updating to SP3, however I will try to do so if required.

EDIT: one can't simply use the 7900 driver, it must be the WT7900 driver.

Get some more space and upgrade to SP3.

Wt7900 driver is not for printing but for communication only. You must use a rip with WT7900 to be able to print. Gmg, cgs, efi or others.

Thanks for the replies. I'll upgrade to SP3 if I can make the space on this drive. It sounds like this is not a SP2 vs 3 issue, just that there is no printer driver as found with other models such as our 9900.

Yes, we have a capable inkjet RIP, it is Kodak Proofing Software.

So, it sounds like this printer is a little different to my experience on MS Windows. I would usually use the EpsonNet software to create an appropriate network printer port. I would then install the native printer driver and use the MS Windows "Test Page" feature to test that the basic features of the printer are setup and working, before using the Epson driver level prints and before moving on to the RIP for test printing.

Maybe its not a system upgrade issue, but SP3 is quite major over hall - and your advised to at least get up to SP3.
