    ECKART Inks

Well used in UK Well used in UK Eckart inks have always been the metallics of choice for me too. As long as you always stir any metallics up before you use them, there shouldn't be any issue. Most UK ink suppliers will resell the Eckart metallics to customers, so it is widely available.

    drying problem. still.

If this is an issue that you get on every print job rather than special jobs (uncoated/plastics etc), i'd recommend a harder drying or laser ink set coupled with a hard drying sealer. It'd be the quickest way to get jobs through the press.

Plus you will find that if the basic colours were all based on non-bleed pigments, this would push the price up dramatically. These are only to be used for special finishing circumstances and as such are more economical if used on the odd job only.

Sorry D Ink Man but I am very happy with the current Pantone system. It is well established and useable. We have a history of using it and databases that work perfectly fine with it. The basic colours are also well used and liked on their own as well as in mixes. All our customers are happy...

While your issues are reasonable, these problems are not really something that Pantone can control. It is not a result of poor management, organisation or whatever on their part, merely the difficulties and challenges of printing as a whole. There will always be variation due to the many...

Just out of interest D Ink Man, if you "shall not follow" Pantone, which other worldwide colour standards are you using for your matches? Your customers must love how easy it is to specify a job with you. Just to complicate the topic a little bit further, the appearance of the print also...

    P A N T O N E Thoughts on 9/11

Having experience in the area, I doubt that the inks you bought would have been EXACT for strength and shade. There are many Pantone registered manufacturers out there and if you draw down a comparative sample of each of their pantone yellows for example, you WILL see a difference between them...

REUSE! Because You Can't Recycle The Planet.

It is possible to work on intelligent use of oil AND wood at the same time I believe. We can't afford to be flippant on this topic anymore.

    MSDS sheets

Most MSDS sheets are all much of a muchness and tend to give the same info with regards to safety precautions. The only section that is likely to change or be of any specific relevance is the section with the composition ingredients. This will be a list of chemical components with any hazard...

Which ink stay open or skins?

Shackell Edwards (UK company) manufacture a specific stay open four colour set called 'Impact Stay Open'. All their sets are vegetable based.

    P A N T O N E Thoughts on 9/11

Do you have details of the ink used? Did you match the ink or just go from the Pantone formula guide. If matched, did you do this yourself or get someone else to match the 123 for you? If you matched it yourself, which Pantone inks did you use in the mix. All these can contribute to the...

    XL105 Ink

In Europe, the Heidelberg inks are relabelled Flint tins. I've heard many complaints about slow drying times when used on perfector presses however. Personally i'd recommend Epple inks which are available in the UK through a distributor but otherwise a second choice would be Sun Chemicals...

anyone useing or have used The Printing Ink Company/Rycoline inks?

Well I can tell you now that Sun Chemical have a Diamond four colour set. This however is their cheap economy set and many printers have issues with its poor rub properties.

    P A N T O N E Thoughts on 9/11

Whether you like Pantones 'monopoly' or not. It is considered the standard that most companies will work to. This is due to its comparative ease of use and to be honest, the lack of any other universal and usable standards out there. If you want results close to the coated and uncoated books...
