    linking old preps files

The indd file not being centered on output to pdf, if it is centered there is something that's causing the file to output off center, possibly a bleed setting, hard to say exactly what w/o seeing indd file.

    linking old preps files

I believe your source file was not output centered, and the image is shifted .0625 downward. They can all be re-positioned at once, or you can make a new pdf or ps centered from the native app if you have them.

You can upgrade your existing hardware now, it works rampage does not like it but i tossed out their stuff and replaced with HP GL workstations and I was running 10 at the time. I'm not sure if they have it locked down to their stuff these days but if not you can put it on your hardware of...

iTunes & Limewire on a production machine

Limewire is so ancient and exposing why would anyone use this. Now I can see an app like transmission, but to be honest Macs in this regard are not as efficient at p2p as a good cheap xp or vista box. You also need to make sure that LW box has PG2 running (peerguardian) :)

    Web-Based File Editing???

With remote access such as LogMeIn pro you can setup a workstation with all software needed, not just some web interface, set user permissions, and basically allow whomever access to your softwares remotely. This allows you to have a native file and create the pdf the way you want. You can also...

    Prepress Workflows

I have used both Nexus and Rampage and I prefer Rampage by far, but the Prinect commenter is also correct in that it is a very capable system offering more integration than most workflows. They all have their pos & neg, familiarity and cost will usually make most decisions in the end.

I don't intend to be here forever.. what I really want to do is -

I recently left the South Texas market after about 15+ years and decided it's time to finish my degree and pursue my career in the medical field. I was in school (junior) when I started a service bureau providing film and scans and thought it would be great, I now wish I had continued on with...

    16-up Imposition

Rich, this is the impo I used for the 32, this is the pb version. I would also adjust the shingling toward the head manually depending on the stock, ie 50# offset I would adjust the movement in the head direction .005, and this would really help the bindery with the critical folios. If it were a...

    Problems with ripping fogra files

Are you trying to rip these directly off the CD, it is probably best to copy off to a local folder first then check the file properties and make sure to remove "read-only" in the attributes. I have had this happen in the past with many different apps. good luck

    16-up Imposition

"Actually stock has nothing to do with a dummy.. all a dummy does is give you the page placement, whether its tissue paper, book paper, blue paper, etc." Not if they are assuming that they can do this on, let's say 70 or 80# offset, it will not work well at all. A 32 pg impo is rather dependent...
