White line around orange solid against gray background on iGen 4 with Creo RIP

Running a Xerox iGen 4 with a Creo rip. We have a client constantly bouncing proofs and printing elsewhere because of an issue we can't seem to solve. They build elements, such as a chart in Illustrator, CMYK file, they make a 10% black screen, and then place an orange rectangle on top of it...

Where can you learn about mailing?

I Apologize if this is the wrong category. We recently started doing mailing in house, at first is was maybe once a week we had one to do. Now its more like 3-5 a week. We only mail what we print so we have control over it from the beginning. The question I have is what is the best way to...

Do you put proof guidelines when you email PDF Proofs

On our physical proof sheets, we always list that any AA's will acquire additional costs. Does anyone word this in an email every time you send out Emailed proofs? Such as not color accurate, not high resolution, changes are additional etc?

    cannon click price yearly increase

Have you considered Konica Minolta? We were a Xerox house for the longest time, but they charge a click rate as well as an additional monthly service charge. With KM, we only pay a click charge (in addition to payments on machine of course) but there is no additional monthly service cost. We...

Hello All - Has anyone tried printing on 70# Gloss Text before? It is thinner then 20# Bond and my machine is not liking it. I have tried, with my technician every possible setting - speed, paper types, different weights, curling paper, flipping paper, different trays - It does not like it and...

How do you Score your proofs to show clients?

Hello Friends - We do a lot of digital work, such as perfect bound books, saddle stitch books, wrap around covers for Wire-O books etc. The question I have is does anyone have any tips to score card stock for folding thats done by hand since its just one copy to make a proof? Usually we use...

Inkjetting for mailing on Varnished stock? What type of ink?

We have a W-InkJet mailing system by Kirk-Rudy. It does have a heat lamp drying system that the pieces run under. The only thing we have yet to accomplish is how to inkjet on top of a gloss varnish. We know other mail houses are doing it, but we have not been able to find an ink that can do...

    Bleed lines

Just create your guide in the original file as a custom spot color, then when you prescan, just map it to dieline, it will overprint on your proofs so you can see them, then when you go to plate dont plate that color

    How to Learn Printing?

This is easy, don't lol have you ever visited/toured an actual print facility? Most places will give you a tour, just seeing the workflow and machines you can learn a bit without knowing the trade at all. I would definitely start with printing terms, you need to speak the lingo first.

Minolta c6501 - Black text prints as CMYK, any solution?

Thanks for the link, but this does not apply to my problem at hand, unless I am missing something. Take a regular one page document, mix of Black and white text, some color text, a color image etc, and a grayscaled image, that was grayscaled in photoshop. The black text is InDesign default...

Minolta c6501 - Black text prints as CMYK, any solution?

Hi Sorry I fell behind on reading these responses. I apologize there are so many choices being thrown out, its a bit overwhelming. I can't print in just grayscale because sometimes there are mixed color and black and white elements. I know when exported out of InDesign, Black text reads CMYK...

Minolta c6501 - Black Drum Spotting

Just thought I would reply and let you know what we discovered. The tech was right, it was the stock we were using. We were using Endurance Gloss and Silk Cover/Texts and were having at least one issue a week. We switched over to the Montauk Line, and have not had an issue in over a month.
