Konica Minolta 1060L

Anyone have a 1060L??

Hi,

We have KM 1060L that replaced C5501. Mechine have smaller footprint, it is more quiet than C5501. Rip is must have because machine does not print w/o RIP. I would recommend calibration device as well (you can buy used ES-1000 for 200-300 USD). Only diference is that they stuff it with all sorts of filters so they make service intervals longer but still you can always call for service if you are on SM. If you got used to matte finsih as I have than you need to get the envelope fusing unit as well or instead regular one. When you go with L models you cant add bigger tray or some finishers. In overall very good machine but if you need some extras you need to go with 1070 or 1085.

Regards

Most of the functionality present in a Fiery is available in the IC602, but in a circumvent way. Fiery can do imposition (with a suitable license) while the IC602 will never do that. IMHO the real hard barrier is the unavailability of APPE in the low-budget KM RIP, while Fiery comes with it per se. PDF/X-4 or documents with layers, live transparency or RGB images aren't handled well without APPE.

Markw620, are you looking at a used C1060L? Those models are no longer available new...we have moved on to the C2060L. No you do not need a different fuser for matte paper or finish. You do need a separate fuser for envelopes though. As for the IC-602 vs Fiery...both will produce great print quality. Both offer a queuing interface. And to correct Puch, APPE is available on the KM rip, but it is an optional add-on. But Puch is right about the imposition. The IC602 will only do very basic 2-up or 4up. The impose/compose feature on the Fiery is much more powerful. In the case of processing speed, I've done several tests and the IC-602 is actually much faster than the smaller Fiery IC-415 offered on the C1060L...when you go to a C1060 or C1070L, a more robust Fiery IC-308 is available and it is very fast, and it comes standard with other great features like Hot Folders and Image Enhanced Visual Editor.
