It's hard to talk about failures.

But it's an important exercise that may help companies take the right decision in the future. Can you tell me what are the biggest challenges faced by print service providers, that have tried and failed to implement a B2C storefront to sell personalised printed products online?

We once tried to put together a B2C storefront but the system we were using required a massive amount of setup. They had programmed in a lot of the "pieces" but it was up to us to put it together to match our capabilities. It kinda felt like being sold a car in individual pieces ("You can put it together into any model you want! Isn't that so helpful?"). We also were simultaneously trying to set it up in a way so we could integrate it into our MIS which limited a lot of the "pieces" we could even use. We eventually gave up because we just didn't have the time to spend on doing that.

Wow, I can imagine how frustrating that experience was.

Thanks for sharing!

In our company we are looking for a webtiprint software, but all we have seen have very few configuration options. Could you tell us what software you have tried?
We are in the packaging sector do you know any?
We have seen some B2C software but too far from our budget.

Thanks

What part of the industry are you in, and who were you trying to sell to?

What type of packaging are you talking about? I don't know many w2p turnkey solutions for packaging. Probably because of the diversity of sizes and shapes. Last year at Interpack I had the pleasure to meet the guys from Packly. An Italian solution for carton packaging aiming at SMEs and individuals (B2C) they've achieved some success in Italy but invested in in-house development maily the the site's functionality is pretty unique, allowing anyone to customise the type of box and size. https://www.pack.ly/

Challenges are basically the spice of life and in business without taking the risk, no gains are possible. The print industry is no an exception. I guess the basic challenge of the b2b print industry is to make each module of print keeping your customer in mind and after executing the module the changes came from your customer, which has also a customer for their business and their customer want something else that you are missing in your module. Making that module right start from the beginning is the most challenging task in print. Hi!, Thanks for your comment. As you're a solutions provider, it would be nice if you could disclose your churn rate, the number of customers that abandon the "web to print dream" for whatever reason. No system is perfect the print service provider has to make an effort to adapt, especially SaaS solutions, but unfortunately some of them are not willing to and, by the other hand, some vendors are not willing to give the proper support.
