  • What is the percentage of order you manage via Web-to-Print?

    Hi All,

    According to a very interesting report published by NAPCO recently ''Running a Profitable Printing Business - A PLAYBOOK FOR DEFINING STRATEGIES AND SOLUTIONS FOR SUCCESS'' (Download Full Report)

    Customer demands from Printers for Shorter Turn Arounds(72%), Short Run Lengths (67%), Just in time ordering (59%) & Online Ordering/Web-to-Print (54%) to produce more engaging customer communications

    We often come across Printers looking for Web-to-Print or already using other Web-to-Print and when we ask how many orders do you receive via Web-to-Print.

    Then most of them would say it is only for a few of our Corporates or specific sales channel we wish to implement. Rest all orders are still managed via Traditionally either email/phone or via Custom Quote.

    And we also have Printers who are managing all their 100% Print Orders/Quotes vis W2P.

    What is the case with you? How many percentages of total Print Orders do you manage via W2P?

    Why are you not able to manage all your orders vis W2P?

    Our shop currently receives about 25% of our total orders from our web-to-print and that is growing a few percentage points each year. Our web-to-print is built solely for business-to-business relationships - we don't have a business-to-consumer web-to-print channel yet because honestly our shop probably isn't ready yet workflow-wise to meet consumer expectations of lightning-fast turnaround times and cheap pricing.

    Infrequent buyers, or buyers who rarely reorder the same product twice, are the ones who don't order through our web-to-print channel as the infrequent ones aren't worth our time yet when we've got bigger fish to fry, and ad hoc/file upload products on a web-to-print can be a bear to set up as well, though not impossible.

      Thank you for your quick response. It make sense for Infrequent buyers orders managed via traditional manners. Than the real question is - are you able to cope up handling manually starting from Print Estimation to file receiving, artwork approval, billing, production & delivery? Average it says traditional print order management communication roughly takes 14 - 16 emails per order so it goes to like $150 to $250 human touch cost per order considering the amount of time spent managing every order rather small or big.

      This is the case with major printers as they are not able to manage small orders via W2P due to limited tools in w2p. So In our recent upgrade we added Custom Quote & Online Ordering for Small B2B (who may not need their own Private Store) from Public Storefront and also made Offline Order Sections in back-end so you can input orders/quotes received via email/phone on behalf of customers directly from back-end. So order added from back-end create user account for clients on your store and for every order Invoice, job tickets, shipping labels are auto generated and customer gets notifications and track orders, pay online, upload files, approve artwork & even reorder in future on their own from their my account. So end of the day all orders remain at once place. So few of them have experienced 87% time reduction in order processing & 90% reduction customer asking questions about order value, tracking etc as they can see everything in their My Account. They can also store their frequently ordered files in my account for quick ordering.

      Do you think it can help Printers to manage their other orders via w2p?
