Procter & Gamble has debuted the “Tide Eco-Box.”

Designed for the online shopper, Tide’s Eco-Box arrives on a shopper's doorstep in a sealed, shipping-safe cardboard box. Inside the Eco-Box is a sealed bag of ultra-compacted Tide liquid detergent. To access the contents, peel off a perforated cardboard flap, revealing a “no-drip” twist tap—like your favorite boxed wine.

P&G designed the Eco-Box to ship as efficiently as possible on its journey from a manufacturing site to a retailer’s warehouse and onto a consumer’s front door. Products sold online typically need to be packaged with a 2nd or 3rd layer of protection—like cardboard & bubble wrap that’s later discarded.

The “Eco-Box” is a nod to eCommerce & the lighter shipping footprint these packages are designed to drive. This Eco design uses 60% less plastic & 30% less water than the current 150 oz. version. Eco packing will be available from big online retailers like Amazon starting in January-2019.
